DRAWING & PAINTING SESSIONS 2013

It's been a while since I've posted on my blog. Been busy with teaching. Just finished up 2 six-week classes on painting and a few workshops too. In addition my open life drawing and painting sessions are in full swing! It's been a great season so far with artist friends and great models!  Here's some of the latest portrait studies from the Thursday night sessions.

SAVE THE DATE!

SAVE THE DATE!

I've been very busy working on new paintings for the upcoming show at Travis Gallery.

New Horizons, A Two Person Exhibition will feature a collection of new work that includes abstracts, landscape and figurative oil paintings.

My new work is not only about the subject but about light. I explore the drama of the first rays of morning sun to the last glimpse of the day. The new paintings evoke a mood which is both mysterious and beautiful.

Emily’s new work is greatly influenced by the landscape – both rural and urban. The rural paintings are based on her observation of weather, light, fog and mist of her surrounding area while the urban pieces have bolder colors with organic shapes. Each piece has an inner glow that results from multiple layers of paint and glazing.

The opening receptions will be on Saturday, April 27 from 5-8PM and Sunday, April 28 from 12-4PM.  The show will run through May 18.
